Lecturer (above the bar) in Planning & Environmental Policy (Permanent post)
Applications are invited for a permanent Lecturer (above the bar) in Planning & Environmental Policy in the School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Policy, University College Dublin, Ireland.
Applicants must have a PhD in planning, environmental policy or related area, a strong, demonstrable commitment to research and international publication, an ability to teach at University level, a capacity for graduate student supervision, demonstrable ability to raise peer reviewed research funding, a commitment to translating the outcomes of research into policy innovation, a demonstrated capacity for multidisciplinary research, excellent interpersonal skills, and a capacity and enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary context within the School, the UCD Earth Institute and the wider academic community.
The ideal candidate will contribute to teaching and research in the broad area of planning and environmental governance. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests (theoretical and/or applied) at the intersection of spatial planning and environmental policy, for example (not exhaustive): environmental planning; land-use planning and regulation; climate change policy (adaptation or mitigation); health and cities/environment; environmental governance/planning theory; energy governance and policy; resilient cities; sustainable urban growth/de-growth; biodiversity governance; planning for the rural environment and natural capital; political ecology and green political economy.
Note: It is envisaged interviews will take place in late January 2015, and in support of an appointee commencing in post on or before 1 September 2015.
2013 (2010) Lecturer (ATB) Salary Scale: €50,807 - €76,936 per annum
2013 (2011) Lecturer (ATB) Salary Scale: €45,726 - €69,275 per annum* *Subject to all new entrants to public sector as of 01 January 2011
