Subject: Re: Last chance to see the Re-imagine exhibition. SS Ormonde, 1947
The reference to Hannah Lowe's 2014 publication, a poem cycle, Ormonde caught my attention.
The flyer claims that Lowe 'charts the 1947 journey of the SS Ormonde (aka Empire Spearhead), the first ship to carry immigrants from Jamaica to the UK'
Is she really claiming that Jamaicans didn't arrive in England, by ship, before 1947?
