Another fantastic opportunity with Quanticate!

I am currently working on an exciting VP, Operational Account Manager position which would suit an individual who has reached an Associate Director/Director level in their current organisation and is looking for something a bit different with broader responsibility, or perhaps a consultant who is looking to move back to a permanent opportunity. 

Job Specification

Objectives:
To lead, develop and give direction to a client specific Operational Business Unit ensuring a high quality contribution to the client’s Clinical Drug Projects that allows the business unit to achieve its financial targets (profit and turnover), continually grow the portfolio of business the client expects Quanticate to deliver, provide the first point of contact to the client’s operational team and make the best use of resources whilst meeting or exceeding customer care, time and quality expectations.

Procedures:
Develop and maintain a long-term relationship with allocated client to meet their needs and to maximise revenue and ensure continuing profits through supporting their management, conducting personal visits as required, securing repeat business and identifying potential new service areas
Lead the development and implementation of a business development strategy for the business unit including accurate revenue forecasting, development of client specific quote models and inputting to client specific bid defence activities
Provide clear leadership and direction for the operational staff within a client specific business unit ensuring direction is aligned with business and client strategy and vision
Communicate challenging objectives set for the business unit in line with the business priorities and vision with direct responsibility for the line management of Operational Management staff working on the client account, with overall accountability for additional indirect reports
Responsible for achieving Profit and Loss expectations for the client business unit through growing revenue and establishing and maintaining a realistic budget for all direct costs for the business unit.
Responsible for ensuring all fixed budgets are achieved and out of scope work identified in the delivery of the project activities for the client.
Accountable for maintaining a headcount level within the business unit that is line with sales and repeat business forecasts determined with business unit growth and in discussion with Business Development Client Account Manager.
Manage the utilisation and billability of the business unit to meet agreed KPIs.
Perform an active role in the development of client business unit staff and/or provide consulting, training, mentorship and support for the client specific team as necessary.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining a realistic budget for all direct costs for the business unit
Perform annual and interim reviews in accordance with HR processes and SOPs for direct reports.
Provide expert advice and oversight on the preparation and review of client deliverables and outputs for use in clinical study reports, regulatory submissions (ICH-compliant) and publications, as well as the processes and standards required, for both colleagues and the client.
Provide expert leadership within the business unit on client standards, processes and procedures.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the external regulatory environment relating to statistics and programming, including ICH/GCP requirements, and provide expert advice and educate the client on changes to regulatory requirements and/or other guidelines relating to statistics and programming.
As a member of the senior management team, drive the development and implementation of new technologies, standards and processes within the company and provide input around strategies for Information Management at the client level.

Key Contacts/Relationships (Internal & External)
Internal
Requires regular contact with persons of influence and in decision-making positions within the client account and business globally. This necessitates considerable tact, discretion and persuasion to obtain desired outcomes whilst maintaining ongoing relationships at a high level within the organization.
Has a close working relationship with the EVP, Head of Operations and other Senior Directors.
May deputise for the EVP, Head of Operations liaising with other directors and senior management, as appropriate.
External
VP, Operational Account Manager will have a significant amount of contact and network building with the client their business unit is supporting. This may include:
- Outsourcing representatives
- Operational Leadership Team Members
- Client Vendors

Person Specification
Education:
- Qualified to BSc, BA or equivalent, life sciences, mathematics or related subject.
And/or:
- Relevant past experience within the pharmaceutical industry or medical sector and an understanding of basic statistics.
Work Experience:
- Preferred ten or more years experience in the pharmaceutical industry working with clinical information and clinical development processes with expertise across multiple major therapeutic areas.
Skills:
- Experience of designing and implementing business processes and systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical and pharmaceutical drug development process.
- Willingness to travel both domestic and internationally.
- Proven leadership and management skills promoting motivation and empowerment of others in order to accomplish individual, team and organisational objectives.
- Demonstrated development of others, identifying and providing opportunities to improve the capabilities of other people.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, resources, budgets, performance targets and project initiatives in a global and regional environment.
- Dedicated team player.
