dear Marcia and all
as a doctoral student myself I established a 'study buddy' scheme last year. It involved online (we used the trusty OU "Flashmeeting" platform for this) meetings between peers (just me and a colleague) with where we set our study agenda and agreed what we'd do before the next meeting - basically a self-facilitated action learning set online. It worked really well for me and I plan to keep doing it when I can make time for my research work (in the minute cracks between the ongoing onslaught that is the day job). It's something I'd love to develop further ...

Hi Marcia,
We also are looking into this model. We piloted a "formal" scheme this year in Engineering and Design. I met with the mentors and in the training we looked at: the role of a mentor, types of support that PGR students may need, how to run group meetings, and did a bit on signposting sources of support.
I'd also be interested to hear of others doing this work.
Best wishes,
Oli
