I normally pay around 800-1000 quid but.......why is it being recommended and what is the anticipated outcome? If there are cognitive/executive functioning issues is it likely that you can mitigate these by workplace adjustments? I would think about what value this process is likely to have, and whether referral is an OH or primary care issue

Dear All
I had a call from an HR team I work with who have been quoted over £4000 to carry out a cognitive assessment by a local occupational psychologist. Here are the details of the case:
The test was recommended by an OHP for 50yr old (mostly sedentary work) who suffered a right frontal lobe haemorrhage in 1997 with good recovery from left hemiparesis but requires treatment for epilepsy. Last year noted some cognitive deficit (dyspraxia/dyslexia)and was diagnosed with left hemisphere ischaemic stroke, recovered and returned to work.
Early Sept 2014 the employee noted a recurrence of previous cognitive symptoms, further CT showed no new problems and it was thought that there had been some exacerbation of old damage, no further follow-up or investigations planned. Is now back at work but has been referred to the OH service as the employee and employer says some drop-off in performance noted.
I am pretty sure that a previous referral for cognitive assessment cost about £800-£1000 but I have limited experience of this service since working outside of a military setting I would really appreciate your advice if you have dealt with similar. Should the organisation be asking for specific tests and if so, what? What have you paid for cognitive assessment by an occupational psychologist?
Many thanks
Jo
