medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
My daughter gave up history at school as soon as she could - she said she enjoyed the things she did with me (castles, tombstone rubbing, old churches ...) but what they did in school was BORING. Not sure what can be done about that - here in the UK all the joy is being systematically sucked out of learn ing.

Let's have a cheering story.
My son was quite indifferent to history until someone in the town found a Civil Wars canon ball. I told him that the opposing armies had probably marched by the site of our house, and something clicked. I had to correct myself; the armies probably marched along another road en route to the Battle of Lansdown, but what with that and the discovery of a Roman Villa under the school football pitches he now enjoys history, though he did not do it at GCSE.
