TU Delft selects OCLC WorldShare Management Services

Global innovator and leading technological university becomes the second
Dutch university library to move to cloud-based library management services 

LEIDEN, Netherlands, 28 October 2014—Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), one of the world’s leading technical universities, has selected OCLC WorldShare Management Services as its library management system.

WorldShare Management Services (WMS) provide cloud-based library management and discovery applications in an integrated suite, offering librarians a comprehensive and cost-effective way to manage library workflows efficiently, and improve access to library collections and services. 

“Partnering with OCLC provides great opportunities to work together with other libraries,” said Wilma van Wezenbeek, Director, TU Delft Library. “We are already working with OCLC, university libraries in the Netherlands and the National Library to create a new shared infrastructure based on the WorldShare Platform. Now that we will be using WorldShare Management Services, we will play an even more active role in the global OCLC library community.”

“At OCLC, we are very pleased that the TU Delft Library has chosen our new WorldShare Management Services,” said Eric van Lubeek, Vice-President, Managing Director, OCLC EMEA and APAC. “This will enable the TU Delft Library to considerably streamline its workflows, to diminish the number of applications to manage, and to realize better alignment with related processes and systems. Management in the cloud and the use of new API technology lead to higher efficiency and lower costs for system maintenance, functional management and for hardware expenditures.” 

WorldShare provides a complete set of library management applications and platform services built on an open, cloud-based platform. WorldShare offers integrated management of library workflows and creates new efficiencies as libraries share work, data and resources to save money and deliver value to their users. “We believe that students and researchers will be more successful if they share their knowledge. Access to and sharing of knowledge is supported by OCLC cloud-based services. Also, new efficiencies with WMS will free up resources for further innovation in our Library,” said Ms. van Wezenbeek.
