Subject: Vacancy - Cataloguing Archivist
Black Dance Archives project (BDA)
State of Emergency Productions, a national arts company has received a major
grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to create the first fully
accessible archive related to Black Dance. Working with a number of archive
partners, this project aims to collect up to 28 archives from celebrated
individuals and organisations operating from 1960s to 2000s. The aim is to
preserve, catalogue and make these archives accessible alongside a vibrant
and participatory educational programme. We are looking for a key member of
staff to join the project team.
Cataloguing Archivist
Based at Black Cultural Archives, Brixton, the post holder will undertake
liaison with donors, and cataloguing of material in accordance with
international archival standards. The post holder will work closely with the
BDA Digital Archivist as well as with the BDA Project Manager.
Other duties will include participation in events, exhibition programmes,
outreach activities and general support to the work of the Education and
Participation Officer.
We require a qualified archivist who is experienced in cataloguing a variety
of formats of archive materials, as well as dealing and negotiating with
archive donors. Previous experience of project work and of interaction with
a range of partners and stakeholders would be an advantage, as well as
excellent time management and team working skills.
This is a full-time role until March 2016. Salary £26,000
