Hi
I wonder whether anybody knew anything more about the role of the IRMS's Local Gov Classification Scheme (LGCS) in comparison with the 'functions,' list that is now available as a taxonomy/list via LG Inform/ESDToolkits?
Several years ago, we used LGCS for our corporate fileplan because of it's interoperability/mappings to other ESD lists (particularly the 'service list,') - however LGCS no longer seems to be promoted as the preferred 'functions,' list now available on LG Inform http://standards.esd.org.uk/
My understanding is that going forward the mappings for the LGSL to 'functions list,' will now only be maintained
rather than the mapping to LGCS.
Just wondered whether anybody was aware on the background to this decision, - why the functions list was preferred (including whether the LGCS was reviewed as part of this) and where this leaves the LGCS as a standard for interoperability?
Many thanks
Caroline
