While talking about graphic design and communication design, why not question the jiscmail engine used by this list? This is hardly a Ferrari and is more like a mule, to borrow someone's earlier comparison.
In the age of stackoverflow and more recent forum formats, does the plain text model that comes with long, frequently repeated and routinely violated instructions for usage seem to you like a neat demonstration of design mastery?

I am not sure. For a person who spent some years in an Academy of Arts, I am surprisingly partial to functionalist minimalism that obviates decoration along with good (but not great) graphic design (I have also suffered when designing and editing long documents).
