I would like to invite you to the launch of the research networking project
'Bodies of Planned Obsolescence: Digital performance and the global politics of electronic waste'
This AHRC-funded art-science project will run from October 2014 – September 2015. An international group of artists, scientists and cultural theorists will use and develop strategies in performance and digital art to engage with the political, sociological and ecological issues around electronic waste in countries that export (UK) and import (Nigeria and China) used technology.
The launch will take place on Saturday 20 September, 4-5pm at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, as part of the Digital Design Weekend (http://www.vam.ac.uk/whatson/event/3404/digital-design-weekend-4853/). Dani Ploeger and Irini Papadimitriou will be present, and biologist Janet Chan and artist Jelili Atiku will appear via video connection from Hong Kong and Lagos. In addition, Dani Ploeger & Jelili Atiku’s installation ‘Back to Sender’ (2014) will be on display.
It would be great if you could join us for the launch and reception. RSVP to Hannah Millest ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>), so we can make sure that there's a seat (and a drink) for you; the Digital Design Weekend tends to get busy.
Warm wishes,
Dani Ploeger
Principal Investigator
