A position is available at TWI for an Information Scientist / Abstractor to join the organisation at an exciting time, as the Information Services team is planning to move to new facilities, and to develop services for an expanding customer base. You would join a friendly team providing a variety of information services and resources to TWI staff, individual and corporate Members, and students.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a forward looking and commercially aware outlook.
The main tasks involved in the position are to assist with the production of the Weldasearch bibliographic database and to provide literature search services. Weldasearch covers the world's published literature on welding and allied processes.  Responsibilities associated with Weldasearch include:

*	Abstracting and indexing,
*	Editing abstractors' work
*	Scanning both physical and electronic sources for relevant publications.
*	Answering enquiries
*	Online searching
*	Service promotion 
*	User induction and training.

Success in your application requires:
*	A degree level qualification in a physical science or engineering
*	A qualification as an Information Professional, or the willingness to work towards this qualification
*	A reading ability in one or more foreign languages. Of particular value would be: Chinese, Japanese, Russian, German

An excellent command of the English Language is essential along with the following skills: 
*	Computer literacy and experience of online search systems
*	Customer care and communications
*	Time management 
*	Team working 
*	Accuracy and attention to detail

You will preferably be a member of the Chartered Institute of Information Professionals (MCLIP), or be prepared to work towards this charter.
