Developing an Organisational Search Strategy - Martin White
Venue: Euston House, 24 Eversholt Street, London NW1 1AD
Date: Wednesday, 15 October, 2014 - 09:30 - 16:30
Course Outline:
In most organisations website search and enterprise search applications are managed on an ad hoc basis, with limited staff and budget resources and no clear objectives other than "We want it to be as good as Google!". As with any corporate resource, search objectives and resources need to be set out in a strategy document that also reflects the relationship between content quality and search quality.
The course will be a mixture of presentations and group work to enable delegates to return to their organisations with a detailed template for a corporate search strategy that will cover:
Defining objectives for website and enterprise search
Developing search personas and use cases
Who should take responsibility for a search strategy
The challenges of managing SharePoint and open source search applications
The role and responsibilities of a search manager
Assessing search performance, satisfaction and business impact
Integrating a search strategy with an information management strategy
Implications of mobile search
Planning for future requirements and technology advances
Who should attend:
Managers in the public, corporate and academic sectors who have a responsibility for the development and success of website, intranet and other enterprise search applications. No technical knowledge of search technology will be required.
