We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD level statistician to join the Research Partnership Team of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) North Thames. This post will be based in the Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit in the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry to allow the statistician to benefit from the comprehensive experience of a large (currently 13) and growing group of statisticians.

The Pragmatic Clinical Trials Unit leads and supports clinical trials in which the primary question of interest relates to intervention effectiveness: whether an intervention works under real-life conditions. It also leads and supports pilot studies for these trials. The unit has a very strong statistical section, currently numbering 14 statisticians and additionally conducts methodological research particularly related to cluster randomised trials and complex interventions. blizard.qmul.ac.uk/research-groups/225-pragmatic-clinical-trials-unit.html

Based in Whitechapel in the heart of London's east end, the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health brings together some of the UK's leading researchers, practitioners and educators in a vibrant, multidisciplinary group, including those with backgrounds in general practice, biostatistics, medical sociology, immunology, genetics, public health, nursing, bioethics and psychology with the aim of delivering world-leading research and education to inform and support local, national and global primary care and public health. The post-holder will also spend half of their week working with the CLAHRC Director and members of the Research Partnership Team (RPT) at UCL (Department of Applied Health Research).

The post is full time until 31 December 2018, starting as soon as possible. Starting salary will be in the range £39,351 to £41,553 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, final salary pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
