I agree the ABL80 has caused us problems with transporting it including problems with temperature stability and result drift/calibration errors. EPOC is being considered there as well. We liked the EPOC as all tests were available on one test card, longer shelf life ( and at room temperature) and we were finding that we had a lot of wastage with iSTAT cartridges as they were not being used up before the expiry dates. Staff found the EPOC easy to use.
I hope this helps.

Hi Tony
Thank you for the information. Please could I ask your reasons for moving over to EPOC? The respiratory team are currently using an ABL80 for everything, including domiciliary visits, as well as off-site clinics. I think that the size of the analyser is starting to cause some problems with the some of the members of staff when lugging it around all over the place.
Kind regards
Michelle Bennett

Hi
Our Chest Clinic uses ABL80 analysers, we use iSTAT (being replaced by EPOC) for transportation and our respiratory ward uses ABL800. A bit of everything really. No experience of the Una Health analyser, sorry.

Hi All
What devices/analysers are other Trusts using for the respiratory team? Can anyone recommend any of the handheld devices (iSTAT or EPOC), or has anyone had experience with the Una Health OPTI analyser?
Kind regards
Michelle
