Content Curation: making sense of a complex world - Steve Dale
Venue: Euston House, 24 Eversholt Street, London NW1 1AD
Date: Thursday, 25 September, 2014 - 09:30 - 16:30

Course Outline:
The Internet fire hose is ubiquitous and overwhelming, with the result that we're often overwhelmed with raw, unfiltered, context-free information. This is fuelling a demand for new content organisation and consumption methods in order to find meaningful and relevant information in these fast-moving data flows. Relevant and decision-ready information is becoming a valuable commodity in its own right, and many organisations are beginning to appreciate the roles and skills of people who understand the specific information needs of their users, customers and stakeholders and can provide it in a timely and effective manner. The answer to these information needs lies in the disciplines, competencies and skills of the content curator.

Programme includes:
What is content curation and what are the key skills?
    Content curation good practice
Finding, filtering and evaluating relevant information
The disciplines of assembling and organizing information
The power of networks and networking
    Adding value to curated content
    Attribution and copyright
Pros and cons of various content curation tools and services
    Curated lists, social bookmarking, signposting
Creating a practice toolkit to support on-going personal and professional development of the "Content Curator".

This is a hands-on workshop. Delegates will have ample opportunity to experiment and practise content curation techniques.

Who should attend:
