Apologies for the late contribution and apologies to those of you I couldn't meet in person at the AHRC Workshop in Dundee recently. I was truly sorry not to make it at the last minute.
As I'm sure Alex explained, we are in a very early phase of the proposal and exhibition development and we are so pleased to have so many of you respond to some of the ideas Alex presented. I have been thinking over a number of the questions posed and we won't have answers for all of these yet but it has been great food for thought. We have indeed been looking at a very broad approach thus far and we will certainly be looking to tighten this as research goes on. I agree that we could be missing a crucial need to incorporate gameplay and fun - but I feel we don’t have to go over a very well and successful path of an arcade style exhibition. I'm not sure yet how we can balance this yet, but it may be something we can develop in partnership with a number of games companies - any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed.
We will be taking a good look at materials and techniques used in the design and creation of games - following a V&A approach of how it looks at objects in its collections and temporary exhibitions.
Over the next few months we will be tightening the thesis and in the course of that inviting contributions and feedback. If any of you would like to be involved in that, please do let me know as I would be delighted to hear from you.
