The BA Film programme at Middlesex University is a comprehensive, practice-centred, industry focused course, underpinned by film theory and an emphasis on storytelling. The vibrant community of students work creatively and collaboratively on narrative, documentary, commercial, and experimental films, ultimately specialising in a specific production role, screenwriting, or critical studies.
The University has made significant investment in state-of-the-art facilities to support professional level provision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a particular emphasis on location filmmaking and postproduction.
The Media Department wishes to appoint Hourly Paid Lecturers to teach in the following areas:
(a) Film production – first year undergraduate practical workshop
Subject to confirmation of timetabling, teaching will take place on Wednesdays and on Thursday mornings between March and April 2015
(b) Documentary film – second year undergraduate practical workshop focused on project development
Subject to confirmation of timetabling, teaching will take place on Thursdays between October and December 2014
(c) Professional practice – third year undergraduate seminar focusing on aspects of the film business including finance, distribution, marketing and exhibition, as well as on career planning and employability
Subject to confirmation of timetabling, teaching will take place on Wednesdays, October 2014 to April 2015, plus marking period
Requirements:
§ Appropriate academic qualifications at postgraduate level or equivalent professional experience
§ Ability to deliver high quality teaching at HE level
§ Ability to supervise student led projects
§ Understanding of good professional practice in learning and teaching
