DANCING MAPS (AFRICAN AND CARIBBEAN DANCE) PROJECT- EVENT DETAILS & INVITATION: 28TH AUGUST 2014 (BIRMINGHAM)Dancing Maps is a project about how African and Caribbean dance can lead us to think differently about maps and about how we know where we are in the world. Dr Pat Noxolo is looking for volunteers to practise the dance moves on the project website www.birmingham.ac.uk/dancingmaps and video themselves doing those moves. The videos will be put together into a series of dancing maps. Desmond Pusey of Ishkoka Arts will be at a pop-up shop to teach you some moves, and Pat Noxolo will be joined by Carol Dixon (Education Consultant for the Windrush Foundation) to discuss the concepts behind the project, and to video your moves. Come and dance some maps!
The pop-up shop will be taking place at the Pavilions Shopping Centre in Birmingham on Thursday, 28 August 2014 from 12:00 noon to 2pm.
You can just come along, or click here https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dancing-maps-tickets-12649694577 for further details and use the 'register' button to express your interest in the event, but please note that places will be given on a 'first come, first served' basis and registration does not necessarily guarantee you a place on the workshop.
