Digital Resources Intern sought:
(i) To digitise and record archive material to facilitate its preservation and accessibility.
(ii) To assist professional staff in the preservation of archives and local studies collections.
(iii) To assist in making archives and local studies collections available for study by the operation of public search room facilities.
(iv) To assist in the supply of information to History Centre customers.
(v) To enable the post-holder to acquire experience and knowledge of the work of an archive and professional archivist.
This is an opportunity for a graduate to gain experience in digitising mid 20th century photographic resources for long term preservation and creative innovative access.
You will be interested in the use of computer technology for long term preservation, be methodical and organised and able to work with a range of people.
Part of the project will involve working with local volunteers and identifying material suitable for creative outreach – e.g. encouraging local communities to engage with the heritage. This is suitable for a graduate interested in a future career as an archivist or other heritage or information-related profession. This paid internship has been created as part of the Creative Employment Programme. Candidates must be aged 18-24 and claiming Jobseeker's Allowance. This position is paid at the appropriate National Minimum Wage hourly rate.
