3.1 BBC invitation to create proposals for innovative prototypes which can inspire education
The Research & Education Space (RES) is a partnership between Jisc, the BUFVC and the BBC Connected Studio which aims is to bring as much as possible of the UK’s publicly-held archives, and beyond, to learners and teachers across the UK. Developers are invited to create online experiences that will inspire learners, teachers and researchers in using applications built on the RES platform. Briefing Event on 4 September.

3.3 Invitation to join the new Immersive Learning Research Network
An international group of researchers, learning organizations, and teaching practitioners have announced the formation of a worldwide interdisciplinary effort to better define, share, and promote the emergent and practical means for learning in digitally-enhanced “immersive” contexts. The Immersive Learning Research Network, or iLRN, invites developers, educators, researchers, and business professionals working to join and collaborate to develop the scientific, technical, and applied potential of immersive learning.

4.1 MELSIG Event 'Digital Media Interaction and Inclusivity - 9 September, University of Sussex
This free one day event considers how digital media can be used positively to address disadvantage in teaching and learning, and in disciplinary practice. It will also explore the challenges and opportunities facing individuals operating in professional contexts.

7.1 Blended Synchronous Learning Handbook available for download
In 2011-13 the Australian Government Office for Learning and Teaching funded a project aimed at exploring Blended Synchronous Learning, which entails bringing together on-campus and distributed learners to partake in shared, real-time experiences. The project focused on three technologies—videoconferencing, webconferencing and 3D virtual worlds—as well as learning designs involving the use of these technologies to simultaneously engage students and teachers in collaborative activities irrespective of their location. A national scoping survey was conducted, and seven case studies were followed and investigated through participatory evaluation.
