As far as I understand it, it's not just a charge for the analysis, it's the collection, transport, reporting (seem to have patient portal?) and strong on use of minimal blood volume

Don't forget it's aimed at a different market - be interesting to see how that might play out in a UK situation where essentially within an area there is one provider commissioned for NHS services

A view of the test menu page is interesting (http://www.theranos.com/test-menu?ref=for_providers). Each individual item is charged separately. So a 6-analyte LFT would be at least $18 [13 approx], which is about 11.50 more than the NHS cost. If they want to make profit at that level, they may find it difficult in the UK market.

However, some tests are very good value for money (e.g. ANA @ $8.31), so they might be able to devastate the send away market.
