John,
ILC currently advise in ops portal to support grid-voms.desy.de and
voms.fnal.gov. Yet
they also announce plans (via ticket 106801) that conflicts with that -
they are phasing
out fnal server.
As Chris says, if a VOMS server is to be deleted, UIs need to remove
it first (or it
needs to be blocked from giving out proxies) so that the supply of new
proxies
dries up while existing ones remain valid for a short while. Once they
have dried up and expired, the VOMS server can be removed from
the rest of the site.
Observation 1: Obviously all this means that, for the period, Approved
VOs/Ops Portal is
wrong if it includes the To-Be-Deleted VOMS Server, and also wrong if
it excludes it! Hm...
Observation 2: Yaiming the whole site is a big deal. Yaiming it it twice
to get around
this timing issue is a real PITA, hence Daniela's shortcut. So I can't
advise: I
just keep Approved VOs up to date and send out signals when it changes.
At the risk of incurring a modicum of wrath, perhaps we should have a
chat about this on Tuesday?
Cheers,
Steve
