Dear list members,
There is now just one week left to book your place on the interdisciplinary Commemorating Augustus conference before late fees kick in. Bookings made up to midnight on July 16th will be at the normal price, but from 17th July onwards a late fee of £25 per booking will apply.
The conference takes place at Devonshire Hall, Leeds, from Monday 18th to Wednesday 20th August (i.e. right over the date of Augustus' bimillennium!), and examines receptions of the emperor Augustus across the 2000 years from his death to the present day.
Italian topics covered include the Ara Coeli legend, Dante, papal propaganda, Gramsci, Mussolini, and the 21st-century heritage industry. See full details of the programme and abstracts here: http://augustus2014.com/conference/programme/
Invited speakers include Karl Galinsky (Austin, Texas), Mary Harlow (Leicester), Ray Laurence (Kent), Valerie Hope (Open University), Alison Cooley (Warwick), Shaun Tougher (Cardiff) and Martin Lindner (Göttingen).
