Can you modify the line in $FSLDIR/bin/fsl_sub reading:
echo "Warning: job submission on a cluster node attempted, running without submission" >&2
to
echo "Warning: job submission on a cluster node attempted, running without submission" >&1
and let me know if that solves your problem?
