Hi

Please can I add my voice to the many others, having just returned from a holiday. Deb and I worked closely on a couple of projects at SOAS and I held her in high regard for her dedication and commitment to equality, especially for those less able to speak-up for themselves.

Hi James

Sorry for the delay in responding to this message - have been away all week.

Was so sorry to hear the news about Deb - as others have said, she was a colleague whose great personality and whose vast experience will be sorely missed and one whose commitment to equality and diversity will be a real loss to the sector.

Please pass on my condolences to her family and friends at this very sad time.

Best wishes

Jill Scott

Dear Colleagues
I am deeply saddened to hear the news about Deb today. She was a lovely, warm and caring person who was always willing to put her hand up to help and support people and often offered SOAS as venue for meetings. She will be missed in the sector and as echoed by other colleagues, her commitment to equality to diversity was unshakeable. I remember her input at events was astute, carefully measured and invaluable.
My condolences to all her family and friends. I hope that some of these messages can be passed onto them as they may bring some comfort during a sad and difficult time.
Kind Regards
Bali

Dear Colleagues,

I was so very sad to hear about Deb passing away – what a shock. I will always remember Deb as someone who was deeply committed to equality and diversity, had a great sense of humour and was always happy to give advice and support.

Kind regards,

Dear all

I am aware that Deb contributed to the Admin-EO list and as a result I felt I should share the news below. I appreciate some colleagues might already be aware.

Happy to collect any messages so they can be shared with her family if colleagues would like to email me directly.

Subject: Very sad news

Dear Members,
It is with a very heavy heart and deep sadness that I must report to you all that NADP Director, Deb Viney passed away in her sleep on Monday night. This was a massive shock for us all. Deb had a history of heart problems but there was no apparent or immediate danger as far as any of us knew.

We have no details from the family yet as to any funeral or remembrance service, when we get these we will let you know. We were asked to wait until today to release this news so that her closest friends and relatives could be contacted.

Deb was a dedicated supporter of NADP from the very beginning and put in a huge amount of work on our behalf across the full range of our activities. As a long-standing Director, her knowledge, experience and seemingly never-ending capacity for hard work will be an incalculable loss.

More, much more than this, however, Deb was a trusted, loyal and caring friend.

We are all desperately, desperately sad.

Paddy
