Dear MCGers,
Following our recent announcement of the partnership between the
Collections Trust and 3D creative agency Inition (www.inition.co.uk), I
wanted to let you know that this years' OpenCulture conference will
feature a fantastic showcase of cutting-edge 3D and VR applications for
audience engagement.
The 3D & Virtual Reality Showcase will demonstrate the exciting
opportunities which 3D offers to those working with collections and
managing museums. Each delegate will be able to discuss their ambitions
for 3D in their institution with INITION experts - and have a free a 3D
facial scan. Who doesn't love a free 3D facial scan!
In an interactive, hosted "walk thorough", delegates will see the latest
3D technology in action. The programme includes:
* Reception - a chance to meet with Inition's expert team and
find out more about what they do;
* Development: Step one of the "walk through" will highlight how
INITION develop ideas and put together creatives with a client. The aim
is to highlight what is possible with 3D technology in the museum space
illustrated with visuals and videos. The INITION team will seek to
identify each delegate's aspirations for their own organisation.
* Creation:Step two will show how Inition creates content,
showcasing scanning, 3D modelling, motion capture, and 360 filming etc.
INITION experts will discuss the process with delegates and explore what
might be done with their own collections.
* Delivery: Step Three will focus on the delivery of a final
product, such as 3D printing, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and
other experiences.
* Facial scans: Final part of the "walk through" will be a free
3D facial scan for each delegate, which can be downloaded later
We think 3D is opening up tremendous new opportunities for museums and
arts organisations to reach out to and engage with audiences, and this
showcase is a real opportunity to learn about the state-of-the-art.
The 3D & VR showcase is open to delegates and exhibition visitors alike,
so if you haven't yet registered, please do so quickly at

I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you there as possible!
All best,
Nick
