Mersenne members may be interested in a day of talks on non-Western mathematics on Friday 27th June at the new Mathematics Institute in Oxford. The event is being run by the British Society for the History of Mathematics and the Institute of Mathematics, Oxford University, and is supported by the Clay Mathematical Institute.
The day consists of three academic papers in the morning, starting at 11am, followed by three more general talks in the afternoon. The three speakers: Kim Plofker, Joseph Dauben and Glen Van Brummelen, are authorities on Indian, Chinese and Islamic mathematics respectively. The day is free and includes a reception.
