URBAN REFUGEES (www.urban-refugees.org) is seeking a confident and creative individual to manage our fundraising efforts. The Development Associate will serve as a volunteer and will play a pivotal role within our organization. He / she will report directly to the Executive Director and will work in close collaboration with the Project and Communications assistants. We welcome professionals with significant experience who would like to provide pro-bono work and expertise. He/she will be based from anywhere in the world, working online from home with flexible hours. We would like someone who can commit at least 10 hours per week for 6 months.
Qualifications:
. Self-starter with excellent communication and writing skills
. Must be well versed in all stages of proposal writing
. Track experience of successful fundraising would be a strong advantage
. Comfortable in reaching out to foundations, businesses or high profile individuals
. Fundraising research and analysis experience
. Proficient in MS Office especially Excel and Word
. Past development experience a must, preferably experience in international development
. Knowledge of refugee protection issues a strong advantage
Responsibilities:
. Identify and pursue fundraising opportunities
. Leverage connections with local businesses, community groups, and other individuals
. Assist with fundraising efforts
. Develop relationships with foundations, philanthropic donors and high profile individuals
. Draft and edit grant proposals
. Correspond with potential donors
