The University of Stirling has received funding from the Celebrate fund for a programme of exhibitions and talks this summer which will use our Commonwealth Games Scotland Archive to promote Scotland’s contribution to the history of the Commonwealth Games as part of Culture 2014: http://libguides.stir.ac.uk/projects/hostsandchamps
To coincide with the opening of an exhibition of material from the archive at the Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow, we are planning a public event promoting Scotland’s sporting archive collections. This event will be held in the Scottish Music Centre, Glasgow (adjacent to the Old Fruitmarket) at 3pm on Thursday 24th July and will be followed by a reception to open the exhibition.
We are looking for contributors who can talk about / promote their sporting collections either with a short presentation or as part of a panel discussion (final format tbc). If you have collections relating to Scottish / Commonwealth sport and are interested in participating in the event please let me know by Wednesday 18th June. We should also be able to cover travel expenses for speakers if required.
All the best
