Dear List Members
Sorry for cross posting.
The scanning of archaeological soil thin section allow you to record many different type of evidences. As such and among others, you get the opportunity to observed organic material.
During the study of a Brussels Early Medieval plough land , I encountered some organic material, totally unknown form me. It is recurrent in the studied plough land.
This organic seems to be associated to some mineral parts, but not on a systematic base. These looks like hairs but I am not sure of it. Anyhow, they present the same opalensence as phytoliths and are also isotrope.
Could someone helps me in the identification.
I add 5 pictures of this material: the 2 first ones are at magnification x100, the others at x400. In case you need it, I have more pictures of this material.
Thanks in advance for our help.
