Esteemed variationisers,
I wouldn't so flagrantly abuse this list for the purposes of my own self-publicity
(ahem), but my benevolent employer Sheffield Hallam University has seen fit to pay
for my latest article (in J Sociolinguistics) to be open access, and so, since it's
free, I thought I'd spread the word:
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/josl.2014.18.issue-2/issuetoc
(Scroll down a little for my article.)
And if you're not yet clicking with frantic anticipation at the prospect of reading
something by me, then you might be more motivated by the prospect of the invited
responses to the article, listed below it, by Peter Trudgill, Sali Tagliamonte, Tore
Kristiansen, Jannis Androutsopoulos, Jane Stuart-Smith, and Barrie Gunter -- followed
by yet another piece by me (a rejoinder to the responses), and then a summative piece
by Nik Coupland.
Sadly the open access fee only covered my article (a publisher has to make a living),
but hopefully you'll have access to the rest one way or another.
And I promise not to do this again, unless someone ponies up for the open access fee
on my next article :)
Happy reading!
Dave
