Senior Research Assistant/Research Fellow - Transportation Cost and Demand Modelling
Transportation Research Group, University of Southampton
An opportunity has arisen for a researcher to work within TRG on a range of projects, under the supervision of Professor John Preston and Dr Simon Blainey, covering all transport modes. The successful applicant will work on the development of whole life cost and carbon models for railway infrastructure and assist with the further development of a national capacity and demand assessment model for transport infrastructure and will contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of local transport policy interventions.
You would be expected to hold a Masters level degree in Transportation, or a closely related discipline. Applications from those with a PhD in Transportation, or close to completion, are also invited. Experience in processing and analysing large-scale datasets is essential, and experience of using ArcGIS and/or Visual Basic would be an advantage. Knowledge of transport engineering, economics and policy would also be beneficial.
This post would be fixed term for a period of eighteen months in the first instance, but with good prospects of an extension for the successful candidate. The post will be based at the University's new Boldrewood Centre of Engineering Excellence.
