PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A FIXED TERM CONTRACT FOR 4 MONTHS
The Information and Archives department at Channel Four is looking to recruit a Cataloguing Specialist on a 4 month contract. The post will be based at Channel Four’s headquarters in Victoria, London.
This role ensures all documents and records which reflect the business activities and transactions of Channel 4 are accurately accessioned and preserved in the Channel 4 archive, thereby preserving the history of Channel 4. These key business records are accessioned to the main archives catalogue, the CALM database, which acts as the archive’s main finding aid. Both paper and electronic records are fully described and indexed so that they can be easily retrieved by Channel 4 staff and other permitted users. All catalogued files are assigned the correct retention period in order to maintain record control, and so records are not kept for longer than legally required.
Key responsibilities
• Creating and maintaining a comprehensive catalogue/database of all files, such as minutes, contracts, correspondence and still photographs held in archives, giving the correct associated metadata – file title and description, file owner, department, and retention period
• Coordinating delivery of flatpacks and collections of boxes around the building through Postroom
• Point of contact for deliveries and signing paperwork for collection and delivery of files. Creating and sending paperwork for all boxes sent back to storage
• Help out with retrieval requests from the Channel and sending orders to storage company
• Arranging for high value business files to be digitised by third party contractor and made available via ANDA (access controlled digital archive)
• Liaising with such third parties – providing the scanning company with detailed instructions as to the arrangement, titling and indexing of scanned documents and other technical specifications. Adding these scanned documents to ANDA (our digital archive) and cross referencing on Calm database
• Some rehousing of documents in to acid free folders and boxes
Ideally you will have a Postgraduate qualification in Archives and Records Management or similar and experience of the CALM database
