The Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences (IA) welcomes
pre-applications to the 2014 FCT Investigator Programme
The Fundacio para a Ciencia e Tecnologia (FCT) has issued a call
for research contracts, in the context of the 2014 FCT Investigator
Programme which will be open between 5 May 2014 to 17h00 (Lisbon time),
16 June 2014. The positions are for up to 5 years. The net yearly income
corresponds to the salary of an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor,
depending on the profile of the candidate. The selection is done by FCT.
Each candidate will have to select a host institute in Portugal.
The Centre for Astrophysics of the University of Porto (CAUP) and the
Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics of the University of Lisbon
(CAAUL), the two most prominent research units in the field of
Astrophysics in Portugal, are currently merging to create the Institute
of Astrophysics and Space Sciences (IA). This unit assembles more than
two-thirds of all active researchers working in Space Sciences in
Portugal, and is responsible for an even greater fraction of the
national productivity in international ISI journals in this area. This
is the scientific area with the highest relative impact factor (1.65
times above the international average) and the field with the highest
average number of citations per article for Portugal.
