Extended Abstract Deadline GeoFrankfurt: 14.05.2014
Session: Deformation mechanisms in the lithosphere
Invited Keynote Speaker: David Kohlstedt, University of Minnesota
Dear All,
We would like to remind you of our invitation to submit an abstract to
our session at the GeoFrankfurt 2014 meeting (Goethe-Universität
Frankfurt am Main, Germany, September 21-24, 2014):
B03 - Deformation mechanisms in the lithosphere
The understanding of deformation mechanisms is essential for the
quantification of lithospheric strength and geodynamic processes in
general. The focus of this session is on new microstructural and
textural studies of naturally and experimentally deformed rocks. Derived
deformation mechanisms and the resulting understanding of rock rheology
are the basis for the extrapolation of laboratory data to natural
deformation and its kinematics at all scales. Contributions on novel
experimental techniques of rock deformation and fabric analysis, and on
the implementation of results into numerical models are also very welcome.
Invited Keynote Speaker: David Kohlstedt (University of Minnesota) on
Constraints on deformation mechanisms and rheological properties of
lithospheric mantle derived from laboratory experiments
