Celebrating 50 years of sociology at the University of Edinburgh, the British Sociological Association and the Edinburgh University Sociology Department invite you to Mapping Feminisms, a postgraduate conference exploring histories and future developments in feminist scholarship and activism.
Call for Student Abstracts
Students are invited to submit abstracts for the above event, which may cover any topic relating to feminist history, contemporary developments in feminist theory, feminist research methodology, or new and developing directions in feminist scholarship and activism. Please email abstracts (300 words maximum) directly to the event organiser, Lisa Kalayji, at [log in to unmask] by the 19th May, 2014. This event will be postgraduate-focused, with the aim of providing a friendly and supportive environment for postgraduate researchers to present their completed and in-progress work and develop academic conference presentation skills.
Student presentations will be 20 minutes in duration, plus ten minutes for questions and discussion. Presenters will be notified of acceptance of abstracts by 6th June. Travel expenses bursary will be available for presenters, subject to availability of sufficient funds (transport only – regrettably we are not able to reimburse costs for accommodation). Please inform the organiser at the time of your abstract submission if you wish to claim travel cost reimbursement – you will be provided with a claim form via email.

Conference registration fee includes refreshments and lunch.
£10 BSA Members, £25 Non-BSA Members.
This event will present an excellent opportunity to meet and network with feminist researchers, gain conference presentation experience, and become familiar with UK postgraduates' new and exciting research projects in feminism. We look forward to seeing you there!
