Spatial Information Officer
Salary: £23,437.62 per annum
37 hours per week - 2 Year fixed term contract
Location of work: Springfields, Towcester
An exciting opportunity has become available in the joint Spatial Information Team for South Northamptonshire Council and Cherwell District Council.
As South Northamptonshire Council’s principal contact for GIS and spatially related activities you will have a key role in the team and be responsible for managing and integrating the council’s diverse range of spatial information, GIS software and associated systems, along with providing expertise in current legislation, best practice and data standards.
You will work to maximize the effective use and integration of GIS systems to the council’s business processes and applications, day to day this will involve database management, desktop and web mapping administration, map production and analysis, providing staff with advice and training and ensuring the council’s compliance with all matters relating to the Public Sector Mapping Agreement (PSMA).
With the ability to work on your own initiative, meeting tight deadlines and a keen eye for detail you will work with departments to produce high quality informative maps and provide spatial analysis to assist with the council’s policies and decision making processes.
It is essential you are experienced in GIS, geographic information, have an awareness of LLPG processes/BS7666 requirements and hold high level IT skills, database management would be particularly desirable.
This post is primarily based at South Northamptonshire Council’s offices but you will need to be willing to work across both sites.
