Dear All,
please note (and contribute to/visit) our session at the GeoFrankfurt in September.
Orogenic systems at active continental margins and in zones of continent collision tend towards steady state but may be repeatedly disturbed by events like microcontinent collision, ridge subduction, slab break-off, or climate change. Stille’s concept of tectonic phases is alive in the form of tectonic mode switches. We invite contributions on all sorts of field-related, experimental, and theoretical studies which investigate convergent orogens and shed light on continuity versus episodicity in their evolution.
