The following post is also being advertised on ARC Recruitment
Project Archivist with responsibility for volunteers
Temporary part-time post for twelve months
Ref No: 14-32084
Salary: Grade M £21,734 pro rata
Hours: 18.5 per week
This is an exciting opportunity for an archivist to work on the records of the city of Bath. The council’s records document the city’s development from the time of Richard the Lionheart, on to a thriving medieval wool town, an elite Georgian spa resort and today’s 21st century tourist destination. A grant from the National Cataloguing Grants Programme for Archives is funding a project to catalogue this collection - Bath, Water and World Heritage: the city records from the twelfth to the twenty-first centuries.
Part of the project will be delivered by a team of volunteers. The primary purpose of this post is to recruit and train the volunteers, to develop suitable listing projects for them, manage these projects, and ensure the quality of the resulting catalogues. You will work closely with the 1st Project Archivist (already in post) and report to the Principal Archivist.
You must have an MA in Archive Administration or equivalent and experience of cataloguing and of working with volunteers.
