I think its important to recognise that 'visualisation' (i.e. using visual
representations) is only one modality for use in this area of design. It is
limited in its effectiveness- limited by the limits of the visual.
Other modalities, scientific representations, equations and maths, dynamic
modelling are less limited and offer more power, especially ' when we talk
of understanding systems and very complex tasks.'
To addres the more complex sides of design , it would be helpful if these,
particualrly mathematical modelling, are taught to designers (as they are
in many design fields).
