Dear MCGers,
I'm really excited to announce that our opening keynote for Museums Get
Mobile! (MGM14) will be Andy Budd, User Experience Designer and CEO of
Clearleft.
Andy will bring his years of experience to explain how easy responsive
design can be - with the right mindset - and why museums should be building
responsive website by default. If you saw Andy speak at our Spring event in
Brighton a few years ago, you'll know that he's a brilliantly provocative
speaker and isn't afraid to give museums some much-needed tough love!
I'm also delighted to announce another addition to the programme, Lindsey
Green of Frankly, Green + Webb, specialists in delivering mobile
experiences for the cultural sector. Lindsey's interests in mobile focus on
the use for delivering social, playful experiences and how mobile can help
people interpret the world around them, and she has led digital projects
for Tate, English Heritage, Arts Council and National Palace Museum, Taipei.
MGM14 is our one-day conference for museum curators, managers, consultants,
directors, bloggers, novices and experts, at Bristol's MShed museum on May
16, 2014. Museums Get Mobile! is one of this year’s most important museum
events for technology development, exhibition innovation, mobile expertise,
multiple platform projects and audience engagement. Curated by the UK
Museum Computer Group (MCG), this one day conference is a must for museum
curators, managers, consultants, directors, bloggers, novices and
experts. Find out what the Natural History Museum knows about how its
visitors use their smartphones and tablets before, during and after their
museum visit, and what the V&A has learnt about designing sites for
different devices. In MGM14's closing keynote, Shelley Mannion from the
British Museum will be discussing the role mobile can and should play in
museum development and audience engagement.

About MCG events
The UK Museums Computer Group’s conferences have long been the place for
high quality presentations and discussions on the matters that are shaping
museums today. Each MCG event brings together a mix of best practice from
the technology sector, inspiration from creative fields and digital media
and the opportunity to reflect on best practice. This event will help you
understand what your audiences have come to expect online, and how to
design content for responsive sites and commission responsive web projects.
We work hard to keep prices affordable - member tickets for this event are
just £45, and we have special pricing for students and the unemployed.
See you there!
Mia
