This is the final call for participants for the 'Welfare and
Austerity' PhD workshop at the University of York on May 1st. There
are still few places left for presentations and we welcome any
presentation that would examine the impact of financial crisis and
austerity on welfare policy. We are open to all students of social
sciences and so far we have presentation focusing on comparative (e.g.
OECD, European, East Asia) and nation-based case studies (e.g. Turkey,
Mexico,UK). Papers are also welcomed as they will provide the
opportunity to provide more feedback. We also welcome early stage PhD
students to present an outline of their intended research or even
attend (without presenting) in order to network and participate in
the discussions.
We will reimburse reasonable travel costs for all participants who
present their work. There might be additional funding support for
those who are planning to attend only (please contact the organisers).
A light lunch and coffee/tea will be provided to all participants.
If you would like to present a paper or register for the workshop
please email Nihan Toprakkiran,
