English Heritage has a vacancy for a Data Protection/Freedom of Information Officer, starting in March and continuing until the end of June.
The main purpose of the role is to respond to requests made under information access legislation such as the Data Protection Act, the Freedom of Information Act and the Environmental Information Regulations. Specifics include:
• Responding to requests for information regarding the aforementioned acts in accordance with agreed policies and procedures
• Working company-wide to ensure that all information that is required for responding to requests is obtained
• Explaining procedures and processes to staff and requesters
• Acting as the main contact for queries on data protection issues
• Carrying out proof of identity checks in relation to requests
• Delivering training and briefing sessions for staff across the organisation on all aspects of information legislation
• Working closely with the Legal department
• Other duties as required
Successful candidates will have extensive practical experience of responding to FOI/EIR/DP requests and in particular have in-depth knowledge of the Data Protection Act. Thorough knowledge of the Environmental Information Regulations and FOI Acts and the ability to work independently and to tight deadlines are also essential.
