Anyone know more about this event? Times, prices, etc?

It certainly sounds good, so I'd like to get it in the diary!

I also see from the MCG website (at http://museumscomputergroup.org.uk/2014/03/09/museums-get-mobile-mcg-spring-meeting-mshed-bristol-16-may-2014/) that the next MCG meeting is to be about mobile tech. Here's the blurb:

Our fabulous speakers will discuss how museum audiences are changing online and in-gallery, as they bring their own devices (and expectations!) to museums, book tickets while waiting for the bus, start a search on one device and continue on another or come across your collections while watching tv.

This event will help you understand your audiences, design content for responsive sites and commission responsive web projects.

Subject: [MCG] Mobile Phone Technology Research

Hello,

My name is Lynn Black. I am completing a Masters degree in Museum Practice and Management at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland. My tutor is Dr. Elizabeth Crooke. I am a part time student and I am in my finalyear of study, having completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Museum Practice and Management. I am undertaking a piece of research for the Masters part of my qualification and would be very grateful if you would complete the attached email interview form andreturn it to me by Friday 18th April 2014.

My completed research will take the form of an article to publication standard (8000 – 10000 words). I have included some details of my research below:

Proposed Title:

The impact of mobile phone technology on museum interpretation

Research Aim:

How does the use of mobile phone technology affect how we view and interpret museum and gallery exhibits?

Research Objectives:

(a) To review the current situation in relation to the use of mobile phone technology in museums.

(b) To highlight and discuss best practice examples of mobile phone use in museum interpretation.

(c) To analyse how the use of mobile phone technology influences how visitors view and interpret museum exhibits.

Methodology:

(a) The identification, examination and critical analysis of secondary sources, such as survey results and published articles in books/journals or available online.

(b) Interviews and communication with individuals involved in the application of mobile phone technology in museums and galleries, whether that is on a personal basis or via email or telephone conversations.

The idea for my research originated from an essay that I had written as part of the assessment for one of the taught modules of the course.

I would really appreciate if you could complete my email interview form (attached), as the information from this is a key element of my research. On completion, please return it to the following email address: [log in to unmask]

The completed form can also be returned to my Aol email address: [log in to unmask]

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Lynn Black.
