Subject: Curator, Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art
Beryl,
We're advertising a curator post at the moment to work alongside me whilst expanding our range of activities, with the deadline the 24th. If you know of anyone early-career who might be suited, do let me know; if you're able to circulate, fantastic.
with thanks
Alistair Robinson

CURATOR, NORTHERN GALLERY OF CONTEMPORARY ART, SUNDERLAND
Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art (NGCA) is one of the largest public spaces in the UK, and has staged the first exhibitions in England of artists from Harun Farocki to Cory Arcangel. The Gallery has two spaces, a 5000 square foot main gallery that can offer complex group exhibitions or large-scale one-person shows, and a 750 square foot project space. The commission of Curator will deliver both these strands, and contribute to the delivery of a special project working across the City Library building in which the gallery is housed. The successful applicant will work in partnership with a small team and report directly to the NGCA Programme Director.
The successful applicant should ideally have a postgraduate qualification in fine art, history of art or curatorship, or equivalent experience, and have understanding of or experience of working in a public context. The applicant will need to possess first-rate administrative abilities, attention to detail, and experience of financial forecasting, report writing, marketing and management.
For an informal discussion about either the opportunity or the application process please contact the Programme Director Alistair Robinson on [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> .
