Applications are invited for the full-time post of Director of the Institute of Modern Languages Research (formerly the Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies), School of Advanced Study, University of London.
The School seeks a person of outstanding academic stature, alongside leadership qualities and managerial experience to lead this important institution.
The appointee will provide the intellectual leadership to advance the academic objectives of the Institute within the School’s mission to support, provide and facilitate research in the humanities, broadly defined. They will sustain, develop and advance the academic and professional standing of the Institute locally, nationally and internationally and have responsibility for formulating and enacting the Institute’s strategic plans.
With an internationally recognised reputation in a field relevant to the Institute’s research promotion and facilitation activities, the successful candidate will possess the vision, knowledge and ability to co-ordinate and develop the Institute’s academic activities and be able to represent and promote the Institute in the UK and internationally.
