Applications are invited for a six month, fixed term, part-time Research Assistant post, based in the School of Geography at Queen Mary, University of London. The postholder will be working on a collaborative research project between Queen Mary and the Geffrye Museum of the Home entitled 'Making the invisible visible: enabling audiences to 'see' archive collections'. The collaboration is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council's Creativeworks London 'creative voucher' scheme, which aims to support knowledge exchange activities between universities and London's creative sector. The aim of this project is to research, develop and report on visualisation models for presenting the Geffrye Museum's 'Documenting Homes' archive across digital platforms.
Applicants should have an MSc in a relevant subject (eg information studies or computer science) or relevant experience, knowledge and understanding of the field of data presentation in museum and archive environments.
The post is part time (17.5 hours per week) for 6 months, starting from 1 May 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter. The salary will be equivalent to £28,742 per annum (pro-rata) inclusive of London Allowance. Based in the School of Geography, the postholder will be affiliated to the Centre for Studies of Home - a joint venture between the Geffrye and Queen Mary.
