*Apologies for cross posting*
Dear all,
The Centre for Environmental Change and Human Resilience (CECHR) at the University of Dundee, with support from Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) are hosting a three day postgraduate symposium, Facing the Future 2014 on the 12th-14th of May at the University of Dundee.
After the success of our first Facing the Future symposium last year, this year we aim to tackle the wicked problems of environmental change from a transdisciplinary perspective with postgraduate and early career researchers from social, natural and environmental sciences.
*We are pleased to announce we have now extended the deadline for submitting abstracts to Friday 21st March 2014*
We are seeking abstracts for presentations or posters that could contribute to the following thematic questions:
· How can we incorporate human and natural environmental needs into climate change mitigation and adaptation?
· What are major land use pressures and changes that threaten food security?
· Through over-population have we reached an environmental tipping point?
· Will future environmental change exacerbate our already stressed natural resources?
This is a call to postgraduate and early career researchers whose research may help to discuss these wicked problems from different disciplinary perspectives and help to develop innovative solutions. Abstracts should consider the bigger picture implications of your research in the context of the thematic questions. Please submit abstracts of a maximum 250 words to [log in to unmask] indicating preference for poster or oral presentation.
Please visit our website (http://facingthefuture.org.uk/) to find more detailed abstract submission guidelines, further information about the symposium itself and to register. Or feel free to contact us by email: [log in to unmask] with any queries that you may have.
On behalf of the organising committee, we look forward to welcoming you to Dundee – the City of Discovery!
Best wishes,
The Facing the Future organising committee
