Hello all,
Interesting idea but its nothing new. Its precisely why the UK governments agenda on job cutbacks in the Environment Agency and DEFRA are precisely to reduce government commitment to climatic disruption and justify the need to farm out (privatise) climate change responses.
So whenever you get flooded out Joe Bloggs Flood Alleviation and Mitigation Enterprises (FLAME for short) will roll up in their designer painted vans with their all new singing and dancing logos and very soggy promises and dump a load of sand bags, pump a few gallons of water and charge you a fortune for the privilege via your insurance of course, should you be lucky enough to afford some.

Meanwhile back at the UK Gov HQ the government ministers will wring their hands, hike the taxes and claim convincingly for the bought and biased corporation (BBC) that they had no other options. Climate change is horrible but we have to adapt.
Cue Pratterson stage left in a field somewhere (report cuts to the right dishonourable and his new view on the environment based on all the best available science you understand).
'We have done everything we can but you cannot hold back climate change so we will have to adapt.'

Oh yes people its adapt and pay for it because our disingenuous government has absolutely no plans to actually do anything to curb further polluting emissions from big industry as this would stifle economic growth.
Cue Osbourne with his greasy charm offensive. The big smirk!
'Anyone paying 40% tax should be content knowing they have achieved success'..For who? such a darling our George!

Feel free to call me a cynical conspiracy theorist but before you do remember what this government said right at the beginning when it came to power.
'We will be the greenest government ever.'

They also said more recently that they would base all their decisions regarding anything scientific upon the best science available.
That would be why they are about to dispose of the Precautionary Principle then?
That would be why they have presented a Pollinator Strategy document that basically says that we the concerned citizens should continue doing what we are already doing.

And that's the best science available?

Of course they are the 'Greenest government ever' or at least in these more modern times. They are the True Blue Tories with the Liberal Democratic Yellow party and we all remember our very first discovery in art class don't we?
Blue and Yellow make Green.
Based on the very best science available you understand. :-)

Kev C in cynical mode today! :-)
